Pat's book for Charlotte

Pat really went to town on Charlotte's book. You would never know it was her first experience of altering a book...and she said it was really a hard thing to do! The theme is HOPE.

Cover of Charlotte's book

This is the cover of Charlotte's book, done by Pat. Didn't she do a super job?

Here is Barb's page in Mary's book, which is a loose leaf how-to book with slick pages. Mary's theme is "Home Improvement". Mary lives in an old school house. Three floors, red brick, big. And needs a lot of work--hence her choice of themes. Barb has met the challenge admirably and will be a hard act to follow.

Zentangle

http://www.zentangle.com/index.php This is an interesting website. You will love all the designs that are shown. It is great therapy for a dull meeting you have to attend. But an original idea? I don't think so. But go take a look.
Members of the Artistic Expressions! group have started a round robin altered book exchange. We are doing our first pages now. The images above are the three pages I did in Cheryl's book. The first is a single page, the bottom two are a double page spread. We are changing books every three weeks. Several in our group have never done an altered book before so this is quite a stretch for them. ~Nancy

This video may not be exactly artistic, but it is definitely creative! Received from theartgarden list on yahoo and posted by redleafpinequilter. Thanks! I bet you will find it as funny as I do! http://www.maniacworld.com:80/squirrel-obstacle-course.html

My entry for mixed media Mondays

Here is an ACEO of a man with a bird beak on his face. I am entering it in the mixed media Monday challenge mentioned two entries ago.

Altered Shoe challenge at Joggles.com

http://www.joggles.com/shoe-challenge.htm Here is another interesting challenge, but it is ending SOON, that we might like to participate in. There is even a photo at the end of the notice to show the scope of the possiblilities! Let's get those thinking caps on, girls!

New mixed media site on web

I just discovered a NEW challenge site on the web for mixed media artists and I think we will all be interested in participating. Maybe some of our altered book pages will qualify for it too! Address is: http://mixedmediamonday.wordpress.com/ It seems to have just started within the last couple of weeks. This week's (10-29-07) theme has to do with birds so pull out all your bird ideas (Barb your killdeer?) and let's go!

Learning how to post photos. More to come...

San Juan on the opening night of our recent art show during the Octoberfest Art Walk. It was the first art walk in our town and it went VERY well! Here is a picture of the front door of the studio at Somewhere on

Other members invited to post here too.

Invitations have been sent to the other members of Artistic Expressions! so they can also post messages on this blog. You all will have to have a gmail account but it is easy to get. And we can post pictures of the altered books once we start working on them, which will be exciting, don't you think?

First blog entry

Some of the artists from Artistic Expressions! are interested in starting a blog so we can share our individual projects with you. At this point, this is an experiment. When we know what we are doing, we will make this more public.
